Previously we wrote about Facebook Messenger, we told you about the download links for Windows Vista and XP – as well as showed you around their instant messenger application with various screen prints. However, Facebook Messenger isn’t the only way in which to connect to Facebook chat from your Windows desktop – there is a perfectly good substitute called “Chit Chat for Facebook.? Indeed, there are many things that Chit Chat for Facebook does better than the official Facebook Messenger application.

So, what is Chit Chat for Facebook?

Chit Chat was the first dedicated Facebook Messaging solution that was launched for Windows; it’s a software application that is developed by a third party – i.e. by a software firm other than Facebook whereas “Facebook Messenger? is the official Facebook chatting solution.

Well, you’re probably thinking – well if Facebook Messenger is the official application, is there any point in using an unofficial one? Well, in this case yes – Chit Chat for Facebook offers many features and benefits that you simply don’t find in Facebook’s Messenger at this point in time. My favourite being the ability to keep the Messenger app on top of other Windows, this is particularly handy when I’m talking with my girlfriend when surfing the internet! My girlfriend on the other hand likes that Chit Chat makes it easy to insert Facebook emoticons directly into conversations without having to remember the emoticon codes – although, I’ve found that she possibly uses that feature a few times too often.

For those of you of a more technical disposition, you’ll like the ability to navigate the application by customizable shortcut keys and the ability to setup proxy settings.

To bring this article to an abrupt summary; The Facebook Messenger Chit Chat provides a reliable and convenient way in which to access Facebook chat with much more extra functionality that you simply don’t have in Facebook’s own Messenger application.
